Exciting new drawings are in the works, but for now, there is this little zen doodle. I saw something very similar on Pintrest and decided to give it a go. It’s not entirely perfect but there you have it.
Working with colors is something that I have historically been hesitant to do because black and white is so much easier. Its been really great to work on my own understanding of color choice and balancing hues for an overall compositional effect. One of my biggest problems in art school was using too many colors that did not share a unifying theme between them. It is almost impossible to get black and white wrong (not that I haven’t done that too). So, just to see how far I’ve progressed since I started doing this doodle project, I decided to make a traditional-style zen-ish doodle.
Also, Kittens
Maybe one of these days I’ll take some inspiration from one of the adorable pets in my life. It has sure been fun having the kittens with us so we could marvel at their cuteness!
To continue with more minimalististic doodles, here is this heavily patterned doodle. This is another church-inspired drawing. It was really quick to design and finish. It’s not something that I think can necessarily stand on its own, but it would make a sweet background or something like that.
I think this is a great example of the composition progression I’ve made, especially when compared with my earliest doodles. Go me! This was right after buying a new set of sharpies. There is nothing like getting new markers to make me want to doodle.
After my first drawing, I am still excited to think of cool ways to doodle. My next drawing is a little more defined and less free form. It is asymmetrical taking inspirations from both feather and fire. I still have added significant nature details, but I am quite proud of my line quality and general composition.
The left wing shape has zen tangle motifs, which I’m still experimenting with.
