I have been doing lots of information gathering and internet searching to find cool new things to doodle. I have found some of the coolest and most exquisite doodles out there are in small Moleskine (not a typo) notebooks. One of the images I found was of a lion made with some cool, doodley alterations.
My dad’s birthday required something extra special, and of course manly, and I’m not sure what could be more manly than a roaring tiger, so that is what I set our to draw.
Highly stylized tiger and swirls.
This doodle reminded me very much of some work I did in junior high and high school. As with every new technique I experiment with, I learned a ton. I even hid a little duck in there, possibly my most inconspicuous duck yet.
Whenever I send a birthday card out, MrE also makes a special custom dollar bill for the recipient. For my dad, he made the best dollar ever: a sock money wearing a BYU hoodie! My dad collects awesome socks and bleeds BYU blue, so the combination is perfect of course. Check out Mike’s skills:
Not illegal in all 50 states!
Just in case you are worried that drawing on paper money is illegal, it isn’t, as long as you do not tamper with the numbers or make it unfit to be spent. We oftne leave superhero themed dollars as part of our tips.
Time for Cute
Of course I can’t just leave you without an adorable photo of our own ferocious beasts:
What do YOU want?
Today I registered this site as my very first .com! Now you only need to type duckydoodles.com into your address bar to see all the cool marker doodles you could ever want.
I have heaps of cool stuff waiting to be posted. At the moment I am schedules to post every two days (not including today). If you have any special requests or ideas for a doodle, send me a comment or use your powers of the mind–I may pickup your brainwaves.
I see you are awake! good, you may begin to love me…
I know I posted only yesterday, but I just now realized that I never made a post about one of the most important birthday cards! My mom’s birthday was in April, and of course I made a card for her, (my dad’s b-day was yesterday, blog post of his card incoming). My mom likes many things, most of which are related to science fiction, books, and Benedict Cumberbatch, but she also likes my art because I am her daughter. I think she is slowly turning her house into the Galleria de Megan, cause she’s awesome! I decided her doodle needed to represent something that she loves, and what’s not to love about Colorado?!
I drew a single Columbine (the state flower of Colorado, also represented here in a previous post) for her birthday card. Maybe next year will be a Doctor Who/Star Trek/Star Wars themed doodle.
Black and white is always classy, and will go with any decorations!
The only sad thing about this card is there is no hidden duck! In case you had not realized, I include a duck in all of my doodles, at least the ones that I remember to 😛
Moving Day Is Almost Here!
On a non-drawing related note, the day we move back to Colorado is almost upon us! We are so excited to be closer to my family and to get back into the Colorado Roller Derby scene. Plus, mountains. Last summer we drove to visit, and I snapped this photo of Krypto and Tony getting along in the car.
There’s nothing like a 24 hour car journey to help the kids get along.
UPDATE! This just in! I found the hidden duck! Sometimes, my duck hiding powers are just too awesome.
I’m so pleased that one of my most favorite websites has accepted one of my submissions! Plus, their post may help me find some homes for my dear, sweet kittens. Thanks CuteOverload!
So, I finally bit the bullet and completed the Iris State Flower drawing I started in January. It wasn’t that terrible and I really love the way they turned out. I love drawing with oranges and yellows and even the purple looks pretty good. I’m thinking my next flower doodle will be of a Hibiscus, the State Flower of Hawaii. I’ve never been there, but MrE lived there when he was a child. Maybe I’ll do all the states he has lived in next.
Also, Kittens. Look at how adorable all the cats are snuggling on my messy bed. We are still looking for homes for them, and we have a month to do it before we leave to move to COLORADO! Yay! MrE applied and was offered a different job within Lockheed Martin. He will continue to save the world, but this time he will be an Engineer. His new department has no clue how lucky they are.
Tennessee State Flower: Iris
My parents have all sorts of beautiful and distinct Irises in their yard, and most of them are Bearded Irises like the ones I used as reference for my doodle. I love dark and vibrant irises, and one of my favorite varieties is actually brown. I had to white out the text I wrote in the flower in a fit of pique, but you can hardly tell it was ever there, unless you see the drawing in person. Oh well.
I also finished another doodle from a few months back. this one was inspired by Cosmos, and has a swirly-spacey vibe I think.
That’s it for now. I will continue to draw some new doodles and hopefully continue my State Flower projects, and maybe color in another forgotten drawing.
